on NY RESOLUTIONS and the 2012 GAME PLAN….
today, i visited one of the churches in town for the first service of my 2012. i cannot help but feel overwhelmed by the entire service (from worship to message to closing) because God practically answered most of my new year’s eve prayers right then and there. nothing specific yet, but he gave me enough to start off my year right. here are a few things that really hit hard and i think will pretty much be my go-to post its to self as the year progresses.
time is not on our side. it is a luxury we do not have.
this is in relation to inviting people to church, sharing the gospel, serving God and committing oneself to him (among a lot more thing). time is of the essence and 2012 may be a new year but time’s still as valuable as it was last year.
then, one of my favorites….
“2012 is when i cannot give less of all i’ve got. it’s all or nothing.”
talk about the biggest of commitments, but why not, He gave me EVERYTHING so what’s stopping me from giving back just as much?
dear self, 2012 is the year you leave no room for yourself and you give every inch of space for Him. this year is the year you magnify God to the best of everything you’ve got. this year is when you won’t settle for giving him something mediocre. 2012, it’s all or nothing.
and if that’s not HUGE enough, here’s more…. pastor sam asked us if we’re ready to make spiritual resolutions, gave us four points and without batting an eyelash, i said yes. that’s not the hardest part…. it’s actually the walking the walk bit. so i share with you the 4 resolutions we made so you guys can be my accountability partners:
- Follow Jesus - this is a commitment i’ve made almost two years now and i think re-committing myself over and over ever single day of my life is just the logical thing to do. i cannot be slack when it comes to my walk with Christ.
- Though none will go with me, i will still follow - when this point was explained, i can’t help but think that i’m already doing this - not really by choice but because of circumstances. to fight battles with your family not by your side is devastating but i could only find strength in Christ.
- The world behind me, the cross before me - to have that mindset that no matter what comes my way, victory is guaranteed because Jesus already got it in the bag the moment he died on the cross for us. keeping fear and worry out the window is not the easiest of feats but with God before me, nothing is impossible.
- NO TURNING BACK - i love the analogy given by pastor sam. he said that if you’re driving at full speed, it would be much harder to turn back or look behind but if you’re just driving around in a leisurely manner, it’s the easiest thing to do. when it comes to the journey towards Christ-likeness, 2012’s should break all speed limits. i must go hard or go home! no.turning.back.
2012, i believe with all of me that you will be amazing but that will only be the case if i made God the centre of it. here’s to the new year ahead that i wholly surrender and dedicate to God!
Good points! ;)
